A truly worthwhile cause
In December 2015 LUX Technical had the privilege of delivering the production for the War Child event. One Mayfair was the venue chosen to host the event. We were working for Christopher Mills, founder of The Event Mill. We were also delighted to work alongside the hosts of the evening – The acclaimed actress Carey Mulligan, and musician Marcus Mumford. The brief was to produce the technical elements and production for the spectacular annual Winter Wassail. The evening was held in aid of the charity War Child. Charity gala dinner production and AV is extremely rewarding and we were excited to be part of the event.
War Child is a charity that aims to help children across the world in war torn areas. Most noteworthy it is an ever growing charity with ever growing ambitions. Conflict is a global issue, and furthermore those often affected at the heart of it are children. War Child offers support, education, medication and also importantly, hope. It offers this to those unfortunate enough to find themselves amidst the chaos of war stricken countries.
The event took place at One Mayfair, an iconic London venue.The listed building, a deconsecrated church, has various restrictions that we worked carefully around. We set to work constructing a custom built stage. In addition, we also had to fit around intricacies and over varying heights due to the old altar.
Engaging design and performances
The night was an aesthetic delight. LUX helped to realise Christopher Mills’ creative vision for the main space. Together we developed an exciting design to fill the beautiful, vast ceilings. In addition, we also set an air of serenity amongst the guests. This was achieved with the help of ETC’s new colour source pars and Robe LED Wash fixtures. In addition we also installed Source 4 profiles and Core Colour Point MKII uplighter’s.
We were working along side Ed Warren, Mumford and Sons lighting designer. As a result we produced effective stage lighting. This helped enhance the performances of Hozier, Jack Garret and Mumford and Sons. The incredible acts all took to the stage throughout the night. Furthermore, we installed Robe Pointe and LED wash fixtures along with active sun strip fixtures.
As a result, it was certainly an unforgettable night for all involved. At LUX technical this is an event we are proud to have been supporting and providing service for. The amount of money raised on the night was truly inspiring and also goes towards supporting an amazing charity.
